A time when people took pride in a job well done. We respected those persons to whom we had granted authority over us. Public symbols of authority, heritage, loss, sacrifice, and achievement were honored – not damaged or destroyed by the small minded as if that would erase history. And at the same time, “Question Everything” was a sign of the times. Someone very much earlier had said “If not for human curiosity, we all would still be eating raw meat in our caves.” (Or words to that effect.)
